RWDI search a building fencing consultant join our team in our philadelphia cream Desk. This team’s portfolio of current and active projects is diverse and exciting. We provide valuable design support to architectural teams and assist in the realization of high performance enclosures for new and existing buildings – from the early design stages to on-site construction advice and performance verification. We help our clients solve complex challenges in the built environment by combining innovative thinking, collaborative problem solving and a passion for pushing the boundaries of what is possible. We combine extensive studies in building science with technical experience developed in building enclosures to provide project-specific technical advice.

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in fencing consulting, architecture, engineering, construction management or a related field. This is considered a mid to senior level position with minimal supervision from more experienced consultants.

This role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Review the details and specifications of enclosures prepared by our customers
  • Help customers select the system for the building enclosure
  • Analyze building assemblies and details for technical performance
  • Observe the construction and installation of building enclosure systems in the field, including reviewing mock-ups and observing quality assurance testing.
  • Search building codes and industry standards
  • Research enclosure systems and products for performance, compatibility and durability.
  • Local travel required. Occasional overnight travel required
  • Physical aspects of the job – climbing ladders and stairs

We accept applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience with more than 5 years of experience focused on building enclosure design, review and assessments
  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree in architecture, engineering or a related field.
  • Understanding of building science and how the building enclosure controls heat, air and water.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in simple language
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once
  • Other desirable skills and experience:
    • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit
    • Knowledge of building performance modeling software
    • Knowledge of early to mid-20th century buildings
    • Knowledge of the energy code
    • Knowledge of building commissioning
    • Construction or construction management
