IT Support Consultant – PATCHING AND WINDOWS UPDATE

Salary range: £ 39,867 – £ 46,839 per year inc.

Working hours: 36 hours per week

Location: Brent Civic Center and other venues from time to time

We are a shared ICT service, supporting the local councils of Brent, Lewisham and Southwark, as well as the Local Government Association, Lewisham Homes and the Department for Housing and Pensions. With a customer-centric attitude, IT support consultants will take calls and resolve them as part of their SLAs. They will work on shifts covering call triage, call resolution and escalation, onsite support at all shared service sites, project related work and provide coverage to colleagues from other teams as needed. .

Successful candidates will design and implement solutions to technical issues, documenting them meticulously to help colleagues with similar issues to resolve. IT support consultants will need to provide coverage outside of working hours on occasion.

Additional responsibilities for a higher role include vendor and contract management and being a technical authority in Windows patches and updates – you will then use that authority to influence the design of future IT departments.

The person

The ideal candidate, an expert in Windows patch and update topic management, will demonstrate a commitment to resolving technical issues, especially security issues related to patch management and zero day exploits. . They will be flexible in their approach and have the ability to see the big picture by setting priorities effectively. This role brings a diverse range of challenges, so IT support consultants will be ready to learn continuously. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to remediate and update MS Windows servers (virtual and cloud hosted) using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft End Point Configuration Manager. In addition, you will be responsible for managing anti-virus software on servers using “System Center End Point Protection (SCEP)”. “ManageEngine” patch management skills would be desirable. As this is a third level support role, we expect demonstrable experience in business continuity and disaster recovery planning. In addition to ensuring continued availability of the service, you will be accountable for patch management and that it stays above the defined threshold.

The successful candidate will have good interpersonal and communication skills to discuss resolutions with users and their team. They must be prepared to go the extra mile to take responsibility for providing a high level of service to our partners and the other organizations we support.
