Job: Audiovisual consultant at UN Women

Duties and Responsibilities

The adviser:

  • Develop at least six (6) compelling human interest angle storylines for video documentaries
  • With approved scripts, document in video and photography, at least 6 video documentaries of success stories in selected project areas, in different states (Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, Lagos, Niger, Ebonyi, Sokoto, Maidugri)
  • Produce final copies of six (6) compelling video documentaries along with media assets and footage collected from selected project states
  • Develop twenty-four (24) one-minute beneficiary feature films (video clips) cut from the full-length video documentaries for each area of ​​the project
  • Deliver to UN Women, six (6) captivating collections of high definition photos that tell stories
  • Produce six (6) photo booklets for each project area covered
  • Participate in periodic technical meetings with the UN Women team

Key deliverables

1. Six (6) engaging and compelling 15-minute video documentary clips for each selected project area

  • Character-driven short documentaries focusing on the stories of real people will be developed to tell the story of UN Women’s interventions and impact in each of the project areas that will be identified. Each of the stories will be told from the perspective of selected project beneficiaries.

2. Twenty-four (24) one-minute beneficiary feature films (video clips) will also be cut from the full documentary for the 6 project areas (8 video clips in all)

3. Six (6) captivating photo collections for each project area

  • Provide UN Women electronically with a captivating collection of photos that show the impact of UN Women’s work in each area. The plan is to have these captivating and interconnected photo series tell their own stories from a human perspective.

4. Six (6) narrative photo booklets for each project area

  • Deliver to UN Women photo booklets containing photo narrative series that showcase UN Women’s impact in selected project areas.

  • Advanced proficiency in AV production software including Premiere Pro, After Effect and Photoshop
  • Strong expertise and knowledge of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • Experience working in remote communities in Nigeria
  • Ability to think and work logically and work with precision with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • Ability to undertake broad consultation
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills in oral and written communication.

Reports / Monitoring

  • The consultant will report to the National Communications Officer
  • UN Women will lead the identification of beneficiaries and States to be covered

Skills and experience required


  • University degree in communications, journalism, public relations or other related field


  • At least 5 years of equivalent professional experience in audiovisual production
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing the delivery of social media assets i.e. infographics, animations and short videos
  • Proven skills in social media messaging and results analysis
  • Experience using social media add-on applications, e.g. Hootsuite
  • Ability to think and work logically and work accurately with attention to detail
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Initiative, good judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Knowledge of UN Women/UNDP rules and procedures is an advantage


  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Working knowledge of any other UN language is an asset.
