Lovelorn’s software consultant jumps to death from 9th floor
A consultant for a software company jumped to his death from the 9th floor of an apartment within HAL Police Limits on Saturday morning. The victim has been identified as Ankitha Soni, (27), a resident of Bellandur and from Himachal Pradesh.
The victim had moved to the city about a year and a half ago and worked for a software company, police said.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that she was in love with a man from Jammu and Kashmir and that the relationship had turned sour in recent days. She could not cope with the breakup and decided to move on. the extreme step â, declared the inspector of police force.
The incident took place around 7 p.m. at the Purva Riviera Apartment, a 17-story apartment in Marathahalli, where Ankitha’s friend Priyanka stayed on the 9th floor.
When Priyanka and others were fast asleep, the victim entered the balcony and jumped up. Priyanka and others got up after hearing a thud and rushed to the balcony. They found Ankitha lying in a pool of blood in the basement, police said.
They transferred her to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead, police said. Ankitha had come to Priyanka’s apartment on Friday. She had called her uncle Manish Soni and told him that she was ill. The uncle immediately rushed into town and went to Priyanka’s apartment, police said.
There were discussions late into the night and everyone tried to calm Ankitha down and asked her to accept reality. They all went to bed around 2 a.m., police said. Police transferred the body to Bowring Hospital where the autopsy will take place on Sunday after the victim’s parents arrive. Police recorded one unnatural death, police added.
