Nokia once again ranks # 1 in telecommunications software and services

September 17, 2020

Espoo, Finland – Nokia was once again named one of the best telecommunications software and services supplier by market share, according to Analysys Mason, a leading independent global research firm. The ranking, in the latest Analyys Mason annual report which has just been published, reflects Nokia’s strategic progress in strengthening its software business.

Analysys Mason said the global telecommunications software and services market in 2019 grew by about 1% to $ 66.9 billion, with Nokia’s share reaching about $ 4.5 billion.

Nokia Software products are built for its cloud-native, multi-network, multi-vendor Common Software Foundation and optimized for all major public cloud platforms to provide operators with high operational flexibility.

More generally, Nokia’s portfolio is a leader in high growth areas such as virtualization, digital infrastructure, network orchestration and automation, AI / machine learning and cognitive analytics.

Analyzys Mason ranked Nokia as the top software vendor by product market share in its 2017 report and the same top position for software and telecommunications services in the research firm’s 2018 report.

Larry Goldman, Partner and Head of Network and Software Research, Analysys Mason noted: “Nokia is once again the global leader in telecommunications software market share for 2019. They have achieved this in part through their leadership in high growth areas like network virtualization, but also because they are among the leaders in almost all major categories of telecommunications software. New software decisions by communications service providers rely heavily on cloud-native products that work in Nokia’s favor.

Bhaskar Gorti, President of Nokia Software and Chief Digital Officer, said: “Understanding our customers and their needs is central to the design of Nokia Software’s software and services; this is the impetus behind our truly cloud native applications on the Nokia Common Software Foundation. I am extremely happy for our employees and would say on their behalf that we are delighted that customers continue to prioritize Nokia in their telecommunications software spending.
