Mabbett is an environmental, engineering and safety consultancy established in 1996 in Glasgow. Since then the business has grown to employ over 110 motivated engineers, scientists and support professionals across the UK. We have regional offices in Anglesey, Belfast, Caerphilly, Carlisle, Dublin, Dundee, Edinburgh, Forres, Glasgow, Inverness, Leicester, Liverpool and Winchester. . The company is looking to recruit Senior and Principal Environmental Consultants to join our growing team, with the option to set you up in one of our UK offices.

Office and home work options will be available. You will receive all necessary IT equipment and software/services to facilitate your efficient work. We are a flexible employer and are willing to consider any arrangement you find desirable.

About you:


The ideal candidate will possess an Honors or Masters degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Physical Sciences or similar, and will have a full UK driving license with a clean driving record. The professional charter(s) would be viewed favorably.


The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas/disciplines, preferably in a consulting role:

  • Environmental permit applications and variations (e.g. Industrial Emissions Directive, via PPC/EPR/IPC, MCPD, UK ETS)
  • Regulatory liaison and negotiation, e.g. SEPA, EA, NIEA, NRW, EPA
  • Environmental impact assessment using appropriate tools, e.g. D1 calculations, H1 software tool, SCAIL, ADMS
  • Best available technique (BAT) review of plant, equipment and processes

The successful candidate will coordinate the delivery of environmental permitting projects across the UK, using our in-house team of multi-disciplinary engineers, scientists and consultants. Marketing and business development of relevant projects, preparing proposals and budgeting, mentoring less experienced colleagues, as well as preparing technical reports will all be key aspects of the role.
