The Missile Defense Agency finalizes its strategy for the acquisition of information management services and software

The Missile Defense Agency has informed the industry that it will hold a small business-only competition and issue a single Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract for the acquisition of data carrier services.

MDA plans to release a preliminary call for tenders for the Agency Information Management and Software Services Program in the third or fourth quarter of fiscal 2023 and award the AIMSS contract in the third quarter of the following year, according to a special notice published Tuesday.

The agency launched a market study in December 2021 to assess whether existing small business capabilities could support the management, operations, modernization and maintenance of the missile defense system data repository.

According to the latest notice, the AIMSS contract will have a five-year base performance period and five one-year options.

MDA’s acquisition team is currently preparing a pestatement of work and full contract requirements, and aims to release program scope details within the next 30-45 days.
